Privacy Policy

TownScan LLC ("TownScan," "we," "us") provides municipal intelligence reports for New Jersey towns, built from public records. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Contact information you give us. Your name and email address when you join our waitlist or contact us.
• Mobile phone numbers. Only from individuals who have given express written consent to receive operational text messages from us. We do not collect mobile numbers from the public.
• Public records. The substance of our product is government records — tax filings, school budgets, permit histories, meeting minutes. These are public documents about municipalities, not personal data collected from you.
• Basic site analytics. Standard server and usage information such as pages viewed and approximate location.

How we use it

• To notify you when TownScan reports become available, if you asked us to.
• To respond to your questions.
• To send operational text messages to authorized personnel who have consented to receive them.
• To operate, secure, and improve our service.

Mobile information and text messaging

Mobile numbers are used solely to deliver the operational alerts described in our SMS Terms & Conditions. We do not sell, rent, or license mobile numbers or opt-in records to anyone. Consent may be revoked at any time by replying STOP to any message or emailing us.

The only exception is our messaging infrastructure provider (Twilio), which transmits the messages on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using the data for its own purposes. This is a service-delivery function, not sharing for marketing.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate — hosting, email delivery, and message transmission — and only as needed to perform that service. We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep contact information for as long as you want to hear from us, and consent records for as long as required to demonstrate compliance. You may ask us to delete your information at any time.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any message.
• Reply STOP to any text message to stop receiving texts.
• Email us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.

Children

TownScan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
