How Consent Is Obtained

TownScan LLC does not collect mobile numbers from the public and does not operate a consumer-facing SMS list. The messaging program has exactly one recipient: the business owner and operator.

Consent is obtained by signed written authorization before any number is enrolled. The authorization document presents the consent statement shown above in full, in plain language, as a standalone agreement — it is not bundled into any terms of service, privacy policy, or purchase agreement. The recipient signs it, and TownScan LLC retains the executed copy.

If the messaging program is ever extended to an additional authorized operator, the same signed authorization is required from that individual before their number is enrolled. No number is added by import, purchase, or any means other than the recipient's own signed consent.

Opt-out and help

Replying STOP immediately and permanently unsubscribes the number. A single confirmation message is sent, after which no further messages are delivered.
Replying HELP returns the business name and a contact email address.
Consent may also be revoked in writing at any time by emailing jeff@gettownscan.com.

Message Content

Every message sent under this program is a system-generated operational alert. Representative examples:

"TownScan: OPRA response received from Manasquan Borough Clerk — budget document attached. Log in to review. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
"TownScan: Clerk response redirects to an external portal. Review the site terms in your dashboard, then reply Y to authorize the automated download or N to decline. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
"TownScan: Nightly data pipeline completed. 4 of 21 counties returned errors. Details in your dashboard. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."

No message in this program advertises, markets, or promotes any product or service.

Written Authorization On File

A signed SMS Consent & Authorization Form is executed and retained by TownScan LLC for the enrolled number. On that form, the recipient gives express written consent to receive the messages described above, and an authorized officer of TownScan LLC certifies that consent was obtained before enrollment and was presented as a standalone agreement.
